Abbas Youssef Show : اللغة حين تتجدد - 2025 by Mohamed Alaabar

I attended a show by my dear friend Abbas. His work had a profound presence, channeling the colors of the sea. I appreciated how he focused on the sentimental values associated with language and the sea.

Exeprt from @Alriwaq:

The powerful binding of childhood memory, disciplined calligraphic study, and a need to experiment and create has resulted in this immersive experience by the artist Abbas Yousif. Large-scale landscapes of prolific colors and textures, etched with recognizable mark-making and Arabic calligraphy, create a unique understanding of mankind’s relationship with language and nature. As the sea recedes, these rich hues of blue on the canvas suggest an optimistic return, a reclamation.

Monkey Grip by Mohamed Alaabar

I’ve decided to do a shoutout to inspiring illustrators and starting today, and this time is Sarah also known as Monkey Grip .

what I like about her illustration is the earthy tribal theme. She tends to draw a lot of faces with these dreamy feel to them occasionally surrounded by floral elements.

Sarah’s insta is : @monkey.grip, so make sure you check her work out

Ulafa’a presents "Semicolon" by Mohamed Alaabar

IMG_2555.JPG

Ulafa'a Initiative is proud to present our upcoming exhibition "Semicolon" on the 12th of May. It will be the first art exhibition at "Bait Alsalmaniya" a new creative hub in Bahrain. We hope to see you all there!

Ulafa’a presents Semicolon, an exhibition of artists exploring different forms of communication and how they can be manipulated to express an ‘in-between’ of a space, place, or time.

Semicolons signify something that fits in-between; it is a stronger break than a comma, but not as final as a full stop. A link and a separation. This curved punctuation embodies the second before dawn breaks, a pause for breath, a waiting room.
